Standards (TG 11/2016), Published by BSRIA in 2016, states: ‘ITU - The International Telecommunication Union is the United Nation’s specialised agency for information and communication technology and has over 190 member countries as well as over 800 private sector entities and academic institutions who are involved in the consensus development of standards. The ITU sits at the very heart of the ICT sector across the world brokering agreement on technologies, services and allocation of global resources. The ITU is a sister organisation to both ISO and IEC in order to ensure that international standards fit together.’
